IPCC releases latest report, issues dire warnings

The Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability report released on February 27th, 2022, is the latest report from the IPCC on climate change. Analyzing the estimated impacts of climate change and the projected outcomes of current measures to limit its impacts, the report finds unavoidable catastrophic impacts ahead as global warming seems to inevitably exceed 1.5C. Increased heatwaves, droughts, and floods are already a reality, the report finds, and expose millions of people to food and water insecurity. Yet these impacts will grow worse if drastic action is not taken soon.

This report emphasizes the inseparability of climate, biodiversity, and people, offering insights into nature’s ability to reduce climate risks if natural ecosystems are restored. This, however, requires immediate and emphatic support and extensive resourcing.
